Above Irelands Eye
Ireland’s Eye is a family business that has been making authentic Irish knitwear in Dublin since 1988. The name refers to the island of “Ireland’s Eye” off the Irish coast, which is a source of inspiration for the collection. With a love of craftsmanship and an eye for detail, the brand combines traditional cable patterns and textures with contemporary designs. Each garment is carefully designed and made in Ireland, with quality and authenticity at its heart.
Natural Materials
The sweaters and cardigans by Ireland’s Eye are made from natural materials such as soft merino wool and other luxurious yarns. This ensures warmth, comfort, and durability. Combined with rich cable-knit patterns and refined textures, the result is knitwear that is not only functional but also aesthetically distinctive. In this way, the brand highlights its commitment to nature and quality, while each piece has a warm, luxurious look and is made to last for years.
Timeless Designs
Ireland’s Eye is known for combining traditional cable-knit patterns with modern fits and contemporary colors. This mix makes the collection unique: familiar and classic, yet fresh and versatile. The sweaters and cardigans embody Irish culture and craftsmanship while fitting effortlessly into a modern wardrobe. Ireland’s Eye creates timeless designs that harmoniously bring together tradition and contemporary design, and can be worn again season after season.
Frequently asked questions
Are your products made from 100% natural materials?
Yes! Our knitwear is made from 100% natural wool, carefully selected for its quality, origin, and durability. Free from synthetic fibers, you can enjoy the pure softness, warmth, and breathability of wool, so your sweaters and cardigans stay beautiful for a long time.
Is your wool mulesing-free?
Mulesing is a procedure performed on sheep that can be painful and that consumers are becoming increasingly aware of. That is why more and more people are choosing mulesing-free wool.
Our wool is 100% mulesing-free and comes from small-scale European farms where sheep are raised with care. This means you can be sure of animal-friendly, fair, high-quality wool, produced with respect for people, animals, and nature.
Pilled knitwear?
Our knitwear is made from high-quality, A-grade wool yarns with extra-long fibers. Thanks to this quality, pilling is minimal, but it’s important to know that natural wool can always pill a little.
Light pilling usually goes away on its own or can easily be removed with a wool comb or fabric shaver. After 2 to 3 treatments, the sweater’s surface stays beautifully smooth, and pilling becomes less visible or disappears altogether.
The difference lies in the quality of the wool yarns:
• A-grade yarns are longer and stronger, so they pill less quickly and your sweater stays looking good for longer.
• For comparison: C-grade yarns are shorter and often more affordable, but they continue to pill, even after the pills have been removed.
How do I wash my knitwear?
100% wool has a self-cleaning effect: because it contains lanolin (a natural fat), it works like a kind of natural soap when it comes into contact with cold air. This means that your sweaters and cardigans often stay clean without washing, which is sustainable and extends the life of your clothes.
If you want to remove strong odors or stains, carefully hand-wash your wool in cold water, or use a wool cycle in the washing machine. Please note: only do this if you’re sure the cycle is suitable for wool.
Lay your knitwear flat to dry and store it folded to help it keep its shape. This will keep your sweater or cardigan looking great and in shape for longer!
